About Me

This Morning viewers were left disgusted today after the show's consumer expert urged Holly and Phil to ditch toilet roll in the name of the environment.

Alice Beer explained that loo roll contributes to 15 per cent of all deforestation and urged those watching at home to switch to alternatives such as bidets or reusable wipes.

She explained that the average person uses around 57 pieces of toilet roll a day, but she was unable to convince Holly and smart mirror Phil of the benefits of making a switch, and both could hardly keep a straight face during the segment.

Alice explained that many people across the world don't have access to toilets adding that we're 'very privileged to make these choices'.

'You have an option to wipe or wash, 40 per cent of the world that have access to the toilets don't use toilet roll, and instead use a bidet or something similar.

'We have small houses in the UK so we have less of a washing experience' she continued.

Phillip then added: 'We're out of date with our toilets in this country, if you look at Japanese toilets or posh hotel toilets they have parts to wash you.

But when Alice offered up the idea of a set of £49 washable wipes with essential oils that are kept in a bathroom bin, Phillip was shocked and demanded he would never do that, while Holly could hardly contain a giggle.
